Dr. Aruna Sharma

Dr. Aruna Sharma is Practitioner Development Economist and was an Indian Administrative Officer of the 1982 batch, Madhya Pradesh cadre. Previously, she served as a secretary of Steel and also Information Technology under the Government of India. She also worked as a Director General of Doordarshan, giving world-class coverage to Commonwealth Games 2010, setting a benchmark. She was a member of the high-level RBI committee on the deepening of digital payments. She planned and implemented direct benefit transfer and GEM, National Scholarship Portal and SAMAGRA for common household databases. Her forte is Intermediaries, Payment technology, Core Sectors, FinTech and related Environmental issues. She regularly writes for Financial Express, Economic Times and Dainik Bhaskar besides being in electronic media. She is an independent director in companies. She is a Fellow with the University of Bath, UK and an alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School, USA.
